Chitosan Film Functionalized with Grape Seed Oil—Preliminary Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity

Although the fishing and wine industries undoubtedly contribute significantly to economy, they also generate large waste streams with considerable repercussions on both economic environmental levels. Scientific literature has shown products can be extracted from these which have properties of interest cosmetics, pharmaceutical food industries. Antimicrobial activity is among most interesting properties, particularly useful in production packaging increase shelf life products. In this study, film for was produced first time using chitosan exoskeletons red shrimp (Aristomorpha foliacea) oil obtained grape seeds (Vitis vinifera). The antimicrobial two films analyzed: chitosan-only addition seed at different concentrations (0.5 mL 1 mL). Our results showed noteworthy resulting functionalized films; no observed against pathogen spoilage Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria, although effects were species-dependent. preliminary study could developing circular helping promote reuse produce innovative packaging.
